The Integrative Difference

Needling is most powerful when it’s not working alone.

A lot of acupuncture happens in isolation — you lie down, the needles go in, and the underlying movement problem stays exactly where it was. We treat needling as one tool inside a complete rehab plan. Your acupuncturist works alongside the same team handling your manual therapy, corrective exercise and recovery, so the needles target what the rest of your care is already addressing. The result is treatment that supports the bigger plan instead of competing with it.

What We Treat

Where acupuncture earns its place.

Acupuncture is recognized as an option that may help with a range of pain and recovery concerns. Here’s where we see it do the most good — always as part of a broader plan.

01

Sports & muscular pain

Tight, overworked or strained muscles that aren’t releasing with manual therapy alone. Needling can help calm the tissue so the rest of your rehab moves faster.

02

Trigger point & dry needling

Stubborn knots and referred pain. Performed by a NY Licensed Acupuncturist, dry needling targets the trigger point directly to help restore normal movement.

03

Migraines & tension headaches

Acupuncture is recognized as an option that may help reduce the frequency of migraine and tension-type headaches for some people — used alongside your medical care, not in place of it. See the evidence.

04

Allergies & sinus pressure

For seasonal allergic rhinitis, professional guidelines recognize acupuncture as an option some patients may choose to try. See the AAO-HNS guideline.

05

Nerve & neurological pain

Radiating, burning or nerve-related discomfort that benefits from a calmer nervous system and better-moving tissue around the affected area.

06

Stress, sleep & recovery

When tension, poor sleep and a maxed-out nervous system are slowing your recovery, acupuncture can support the down-regulation your body needs to repair.

Dry Needling in New York

Dry needling, done by the right provider.

There’s a lot of confusion about who can put a needle in you. At our practice, all needling — acupuncture, dry needling and trigger-point needling — is performed by a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.). That’s a deliberate standard: the same provider who is formally trained and licensed to needle is the one doing it, every time. You get the technique you came for, delivered by the right hands, and coordinated with the rest of your rehab team.

What To Expect

What your first visit looks like.

No mystery, no guesswork — just a clear assessment, focused treatment, and a plan you understand.

01

Assessment

We start by understanding the actual problem — your history, your movement, and what’s driving the pain — so the needling has a target, not just a location.

02

Treatment

Your Licensed Acupuncturist places fine needles precisely where they’ll help most, often combined with the manual and movement work happening in the same plan.

03

A plan, not a one-off

You leave knowing what we found, how many sessions tend to help, and how acupuncture fits with the rest of your care — not just “come back whenever.”

Evidence & Safety

Honest about what the evidence says.

We won’t promise miracles. For some conditions — like migraine prevention and allergic rhinitis — acupuncture is recognized in clinical guidelines and research as an option that may help, and we’ll tell you honestly where the evidence is strong and where it’s mixed. Performed by a licensed acupuncturist with single-use sterile needles, it’s also considered very low-risk. Our job is to help you make an informed choice and fold acupuncture into a plan that actually moves you forward.

FAQ

Acupuncture, answered.

Who performs the acupuncture?

Every needling treatment — acupuncture, dry needling and trigger-point needling — is performed by a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.). It’s never delegated to a non-licensed provider.

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture needles are very fine — nothing like a shot. Most people feel a small pinch at most, and many feel deeply relaxed during treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what we’re treating. After your assessment, your acupuncturist will give you an honest estimate of how many visits tend to help for your situation, rather than an open-ended plan.

Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?

They use similar fine needles but target tissue differently. At our practice both are performed by a Licensed Acupuncturist, so you get the right technique from a properly licensed provider.

Is it safe?

Performed by a licensed acupuncturist using single-use sterile needles, acupuncture is considered very low-risk. We’ll review your history first to make sure it’s appropriate for you.

Do you take insurance for acupuncture?

We accept major medical insurance and NYSHIP. Because we’re out-of-network and not all plans include acupuncture coverage, we’ll verify your benefits before your first visit so you know exactly where you stand.
